valentine craft ideas for kids

hey friends.welcome to my channel again. well, so valentine's day is coming so i thoughi will make a tutorial of creating a cute valentine card on gimp.so i am going to make a card like this with a heart and a cute teddy saying "i love you"... or you can write anything with the image oreven don't write anything at all and just make the image for the card.anyways, so, let's start.... open gimp.now go to "file" menu, then click on "new" option. "create a new image" pop up opens. i'm keeping the default size as always.but you can change the size as you wish.

same goes for resolution.now click on "ok" and the document opens on which we are going to work.now select the "bucket fill tool" from the tool menu on the left side.change the foreground colour to "black" and fill the canvas or working area with the colour.now click on the "new layer" icon, which is this small folded paper looking icon."new layer" pop up opens. keep everything as it is and make sure the"layer fill type" option set to "transparency". then click on "ok".we get a new layer on top of "background" layer. now click on "paths tool", which is this one. now i'm going to change the foreground colourto something red-ish.

this colour looks nice.then click on "ok". now, while "path tool" being selected, click in the middle of the canvas then click on top in an angle like this andwithout detaching the pressure drag the path tool little to make it little curvy like this.then select a point right under the first point to keep a streight distance and clickthere at the bottom. now while pressing "ctrl" from key board addthe last point with the begining point. now the path is enclosed.now click on this "selection from path" option to convert the path into a selection.now take the "bucket fill tool" and click on the selected area and the area is filledwith the foreground colour.

now, right click on the layer and select "duplicatelayer" from the list. select the duplicated layer and then selectthe "flip tool" from the tool menu, which is this one.and then click on the canvas where the figure is. the figure flipped to the opposite side. now there a "floating selections" appeared.to get rid of it, either right click on it and select "to new layer" optionor just create another new layer, this will convert the floating selection into a layer.now reposition the other side of the figure with the initial figure to make it look likea heart. our heart is ready.now right click on the top half of the heart layer

and select "merge down" so that we can keep both the halves in the same layer. now create a new blank layer and make the heart layer invisible by clicking on the "eye"sign beside the layer. now take the "ellipse select tool" and dragit on the canvas and make an elliptical shape. now while selecting the new layer, go to "filter"then "render" then "sphere designer". the "sphere designer" pop up opens.now i'm going to change the colour of the sphere but the texture i will keep as "solid".mostly giving red-ish, browni-sh colour and light. you can give any colour shade you like.

i'm keeping top left side lighter as if thelight falls from that direction. now am satisfied with the colour combinationso lets click on "ok". now from "select" menu option...select "none" to deselct the area selection we had.make another layer again take "ellipse select tool".this time make a smaller more round-ish selection like this.again go to "filter", "render" and "sphere designer".i'm keeping the previous setting as is, since it is the setting of the main big ellipse, and then click on ok.

again deselect from "select" option.drag down the small round object layer below the large ellipse object layer and......then duplicate it. drag the duplicated layer on the the otherside of the large elliptical object. so our teddy's head and ears are done.now for nose, create a new layer and select the "ellipse" tool againand then drag in the middle of the head and make an elliptical shape.now again go to "sphere designer" and i am changing the colour to more brownish here, but it totally depends on you, how you wanna colour it.and click on "ok". the nose looks bulgy enough to give a 3d likeeffect but not too much to ruin the image.

now make another layer below nose layer.change the foreground colour to white. take "ellipse" tool again and drag and selecta rather roundish elliptical area. fill it with the white colour.then deselect. now make another layer on top of this whiteeye area layer. and make a smaller roundish ellptical selectionwith the "ellipse" tool. and fill it with black colour.deselect and reposition the eye ball if needed. now merge both the layers by right clickingon the black eye ball layer and then select "merge down".duplicate the layer. drag it on the other side, select "flip tool" and flip the eyeand reposition again.

now to give little 3d ish effect, while selectingthe eye layer go to "filter" , "light and shadow" then "drop shadow".keeping the default setting and click on "ok". now merge the shadow layer with the eye layer. and repeat the process for the other eye. i kept both eyes shadow fall on the same rightangular side as here we made the light fall on the top left side.now make another layer below the nose layer. taking the "zoom tool" let's just zoom ina bit to look at it properly. now take the "path tool" and click right onthe bottom of the nose. and then click on virtically little belowto create a straigt line.

then click on "selection from path" optionon the left. right click on the path, go to "edit" andthen select "stroke path" option. make sure your foreground colour is blackor the colour of the mouth you want. now "stroke path" pop up opens.reducing the line width. it depends on how thick or thin the line youwant. keep the stroke line as "solid color" thenclick on "stroke". now again select the "ellipse" tool and draga small round selection just below the straight line. make a new layer and fill the selection with black.deselect and reposition the mouth if needed.

our teddy is almost done.merge down the mouth layers. now click on the "new layer group" icon thatlooks like a folder here at the bottom of the layer panel.drag all the teddy layers inside the layer group that we have just created.make sure heart layer stays outside that group. this way all the components of teddy layerwill be together and now chain them together so that they movetogether as a single layer. like this....now make the heart layer visible. so, here we see,the heart is smaller thanthe teddy and hardly visible. so let's resize the heart a bit.select the heart layer and click on "scale

tool". this one.now make sure this chain symbol is clasped together.that way, the size ratio will be same even if we increase the overall size of the heart.now drag one side like this and increase the overall heart size and then click on "scale".now the heat looks better. but i think the teddy face should be little smaller.so select the teddy layer group and rescale it similarly.reposition it if required. now it looks pretty good.now i want to add some glow to the heart. but since gimp do not have a glow option,we use an alternative way. go to "filters" , "light and shadow" then"drop shadow".

make both the "offset x" and "offset y" value 0. i increased blur radius but it depends on you. now choose a light pinkish color and increase"opacity". now click on "ok".since the heart is almost till the edge of the canvas, added glow took little more space, hence the canvas increased a bit.you can fill the background again with black to get rid of the transparent part.now choose a lighter color than the heart's color.click on "select by color tool" and select the heart area.i did this because i want to paint on the

heart and i don't want any colour spillingout of the heart area. now make a new layer on top of the heart layer.take the brush tool with a soft brush and lightly color on top of the heart. to make the color look smoother, go to "filter", "blur" and then "gaussian blur".increase "blur radius" to 20. and click "ok". deselect the area.now our image is more or less ready. if you like to write a message you can writeanything on any side. like here i'm going to write something.taking the "text tool" , this one.... i'm taking "bradly hand itc" as a text fontbut you can choose any font from the options.

taking a little darker red but not too darkas the background is black. now typing "i love you".... re-sizing the text... now drag the text layer and put it on topof all the layers. right click on the layer and select "layerto image size". this will make the text layer into an imagelayer with the canvas size. it's an optional step for you.for adding different image effects etc. now i'm gonna do some more touch ups.make a new layer within the teddy layer group, on top of all the layers.zoom in a bit.

take the brush tool.select a soft brush and a small brush size. make sure the foreground color is white.now tap once on one side of the eyeball on each eye.now tap twice or make the brush little bigger and tap once on the nose.now reduce the opacity of the layer little bit. that's it.your valentine day card is ready. you can make this design on any size of thecard and make your loved ones happy

valentine's day craft projects

hi. i'm amy warkentien from expert villageand we're on step two of our window card. and we're going to put what's going to behindthe window which is a pretty piece of colored paper. it costs $1 to $2 at the craft store.and to make sure that we get it the right size we're going to turn it over. we're notgoing to mark on our pretty paper. we're going to mark on the back side. so, take a penciland trace around your heart that you already have cut out on your card. and then go aheadand cut it out. i'm going to use these nice looking scissors. i'm going to cut away fromwhere this is, a little bit larger, so that it'll be easier to place it inside the card. and then after we have this finished we'regoing to glue it down with a glue stick. make sure to not give kids too much leverage onthe glue stick because they'll go a little crazy and it will get everywhere. so, justcrank it up just a little and go ahead and put it on the back side of you...
