handmade craft ideas paper quilling

hello friends! i’m smitha from the blog smiling colorsand today i have a bonus short video for you in which i show you how i made these handpainted hand cut flowers. i really wanted some pretty die cut flowersfor a project, and when i couldn't find what i needed at the store, i just came home andmade these. you could use these flowers on any craft project,i used them to decorate these handmade journals. to make the flowers, i used acrylic paintsin pretty pastel colors. these are by deco art, and i will leave infoabout the colors in the description below.

i also have some cream colored card stockand a flat paintbrush. let’s get started. ive added my paints into the little disheshere. i am dipping my brush into the paint and thenquickly painting 5 petals for a flower. here is a closer look now, i am just addingthe paint in quick strokes. while paining a bunch of flowers it is a goodidea to have different sized flowers- some with 3 petals and some with more. i also painted some leaves. now we need to let this dry a bit.

i am swapping it out with another set of flowersi painted earlier. now switch to a smaller round brush and adddetails to the flowers with the other shade of paint. you can lay the paint thick and this givessome texture as well. here i have also painted a few flowers onkraft card stock, and i am going in and adding a few details stokes. i like how the colors pop off the brown. i want to do some embossing for the centersof the flowers next, so i am going to let these dry thoroughly for a bit.

for the embossing i am using a product calledemboss gloss. this looks like a clear liquid glue and iseasy to daub onto the paper. i also have a few different colors of embossingpowder- i am sprinkling the copper here now. i shook off the excess embossing powder andthen bought a heat gun to the paper and melted all of the embossing powder. i like how this copper color looks here. now for peach flowers here i am adding somegold sparkle embossing powder to the flower centers and for the blue flowers i am addinga silver sparkle embossing powder. i will leave links to the actual productsused in the description box below- if you

are interested in finding them. now melt the embossing powder with the heattool and i love how the gold sparkle looks. it is simply beautufiul. once all the embossing is done, simple cutout your flowers- this is called fussy cutting- using a sharp pair of scissors. this will take a bit of time, but it is relaxingand calming to me. and i cut all these flowers in like 15 minuteswhile watching a tv show. and here are all the hand cut flowers. i left a thin white area around each flowerwhile cutting them, and that brings out the

beauty in these flowers. i did the same with the flowers i paintedon the kraft card stock- but i like the white ones much better. and that’s it. thats how you can create a bunch of hand paintedflowers. i just shared another video on my youtubechannel in which i make a handmade journal and i decorate the journal with these flowers.

valentine's day craft projects

hi. i'm amy warkentien from expert villageand we're on step two of our window card. and we're going to put what's going to behindthe window which is a pretty piece of colored paper. it costs $1 to $2 at the craft store.and to make sure that we get it the right size we're going to turn it over. we're notgoing to mark on our pretty paper. we're going to mark on the back side. so, take a penciland trace around your heart that you already have cut out on your card. and then go aheadand cut it out. i'm going to use these nice looking scissors. i'm going to cut away fromwhere this is, a little bit larger, so that it'll be easier to place it inside the card. and then after we have this finished we'regoing to glue it down with a glue stick. make sure to not give kids too much leverage onthe glue stick because they'll go a little crazy and it will get everywhere. so, justcrank it up just a little and go ahead and put it on the back side of you...
